Artist/owner of Angel Cakes Elite
Hello, my name is Erika Anderson, I’ve been a cake artist for 20 years. I grew up in Indianapolis near the Children’s Museum. Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for art and design. I loved to draw and paint and attended Herron School of Art and Ball State University.
In 2005, I took a buttercream cake decorating class at Michael’s craft store and I was hooked! I immediately started making cakes for my friends and family.
I taught myself how to use fondant and learned how to sculpt cakes by trial and error. It was a long road of learning and mistakes, but I kept going until I was satisfied with the results.
In 2011, I opened my first cake shop with help from friends and family. I was on a mission to specialize in sculpted 3D cakes and make unique cake art for my customers. Later in 2016, the plaza where my shop was located was abruptly sold to new owners and I left to find a new location.
During this transition, Angel Cakes Elite stayed busy working out of rented kitchen space to fill customer orders. During the pandemic in 2020, the business took a major hit. It was then that I decided to shut down and return to my alma mater Ball State University to study for my bachelors degree, concentrating on entrepreneurship and business. I believe you are never too old to learn new skills or enhance your gifts.
Since graduating in 2023, I’ve been primarily focused on advancing my cake skills and spending time with family. We are excited to get back to work full time; and would be honored to make you an awesome cake!
Thank you to Ironn, Elijah, Isaiah, Mama, Mary, Michael, Billy, Aubrey, Josiah, Kari, Auntie Kat, and most of all, Jeffery Jr. for all of your encouragement and support. I love y’all.
